Australia is one of the lucky countries that gets to have their festive season during Summer. Whether it be a pool party on Christmas Day or a rooftop bar for New Years, we are definitely glad to have the warm weather when we do. But these are just a couple of reasons why we love an Australian summer. Here are a few more!
Backyard Cricket
Regardless of whether you’re a sport lover or not, there is nothing better than a family game of backyard cricket between Chrissy lunch and dinner. When you finally have all the cousins and extended family together in one place, backyard cricket is always the best way to get the party started.
The Beach
Australia has some of the best beaches in the world, and if you’re lucky enough to live near one (or keen enough to travel to one!) you will never be disappointed with a day at the beach.
Holidays
For the most part, everyone takes some time off over the Christmas/New Year period. This makes the Australian summer a great way to catch up with friends and family, on a beautiful Summer’s day.
BBQs
To be fair, you can have BBQs all year round depending on your set up, but there is nothing better than an outdoor party on a hot day with your closest friends, while the kids run around and play! BBQs really are a favourite Australian pastime.
The Food!
There is nothing like the fruit that is in season over the summer. All the stone fruit, mangoes, melons and cherries – what more could you want? Fruit salad is also an easy and yum snack in-between courses on Christmas and Boxing Day!
Make sure you take advantage of the warm weather this year. It only comes around once a year, so don’t waste it!
