Admella's Fruit 'n' Veg is a greengrocer that was established over 30 years ago and located on the foreshore of Portland. Our store's name was taken from the SS Admella, a trade ship that ferried freight between Adelaide and Melbourne. One treacherous night at sea, SS Admella became shipwrecked off the coast of Carpenter Rocks, 100 kilometers West of Portland. The Portland lifeboat was instrumental in the rescue of many survivers. Each year the anniversary of the shipwreck is marked in both South Australia and Portland. Thus we thought it was fitting to name our store to commemorate the event.
We strive to provide the community with the best quality fruit and vegetables. This means purchasing our produce from local sources. We also support a number of local businesses by stocking locally made tea, eggs, honey, and yummy treats.
