Many people think that the Fuji apple is named after Mount Fuji, but its name actually comes from Fujisaki, the Japanese town where they were developed. Known for their sweet flavour, Fuji apples have one of the highest sugar contents in apples at about 14g of sugar per 100g. They are great for eating fresh or used in jellies and tea. Fuji apples are available and in season April to October.
