A Better Choice For Freshness

As we enter the final week of Spring, we are excited to see the shift into warmer weather and all that comes with it. Your local fruit and veg shop will continue to see a change in rotation of spring crops for summer crops, with a bounty of stone fruit, grapes, tropical fruits and your favourite staples. Rain in parts of the country is affecting some produce lines, but with some consistent weather, we will see better quality produce and ease in prices.

Our pick of the week this week is new-season Apricots. The perfect size for a snack with a sweet flavour, Apricots are a delicious option at your local fruit and veg shop this week. When selecting Apricots, look for fruit that is firm but still has some give, and has a strong aroma. Apricots are a delicious addition to savoury meals such as stews or curries to add a sweet flavour, or they can be added to smoothies and other drinks. Try our Apricot Smoothie for a refreshing pick-me-up this week.

Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries and Blackberries are great options for your berry fix this week. Mix them into your favourite morning cereal with yoghurt, add to your smoothies or pop them into your lunchbox for a fuss-free snack.

Nectarines and Peaches continue to improve in quality and are in great supply this week. These Mini Peach Tarts are a delicious sweet treat to celebrate stone fruit this season. Be sure to pick some up this week at your local fruit and veg shop.

Aussie Grape season has begun, with a selection of Crimson Seedless and White Minindee grapes available. Grapes make the perfect snack on a hot day and are great for the kid’s lunchbox.

Mushrooms are a great option year-round. Mushrooms are rich in vitamins and minerals, and add so much flavour to your meals. Mushrooms complement meat dishes, or are a great substitute for meat in burgers, tacos, or stews. You can’t go wrong with this Cheesy Mushroom Pie for a recipe the whole family will love.

Carrots add sweetness to your dishes, whether roasted, added to your Mum’s carrot cake recipe, or eaten fresh with your favourite dip! We can’t get enough of them in this recipe that highlights their sweetness, our Honey Sesame Carrots

Cabbage is a wonderful staple to add to your weekly shop. Shredded for coleslaw, or cooked into cabbage rolls or fermented, Cabbage has numerous uses and is delicious in all. Add some crunch to your meals, or try making your own Saurkraut with our Red Cabbage Saurkraut recipe.

Your local Fruit and Veg shop hand select their produce from local Growers and Wholesalers to bring you the best quality available! Pick up some of this produce and more from your local Fruit and Veg shop this week!
