A Better Choice For Freshness

As we near the end of summer, some of our favourite fruits are starting to phase out, so say a fond goodbye and a cya next summer! While some of our summer favourites leave, we are starting to say hello to some great fruit and veg that is starting to come into season as we come into the end of summer and beginning of autumn.

If you’re still feeling like summer-loving, grab some Queensland-grown Passionfruit to keep you feeling fresh! Perfect alone, on top of yoghurt or other sweets, Passionfruit is one of our favourite fruits! They are also perfect additions to drinks for a refreshing tangy flavour, one we are loving at the moment is our Passionfruit Gin & Tonic

Other Summery fruits still in good supply are juicy Pineapples and melons such as Watermelon and Rockmelon, all perfect for throwing together a fresh fruit salad, like this Watermelon, Rockmelon and Goat Cheese Salad!

Stone fruits such as White and Yellow Fleshed NEctarines, Plums, Peaches and Apricots are still in excellent supply, and with so much on offer, it’s a no-brainer to pick some up in this week’s shop! Perfect alone, as a snack for this kids’ lunchboxes, in a salad, or pastry, there are endless ways of utilising this seasonal produce! For something a little more on the cozy side, try these White Poached Nectarines with Mint Cream and Toasted Hazelnuts

There are also new season Gala Variety Apples, as well as Nashi Pears in store now, a perfect midday snack! Gala Apples are best as snacks or in salads, like this Sweet Potato & Apple Salad

In Vegetables this week, there is plenty of delicious seasonal produce to choose from! Fennel is plentiful, and is a very versatile veg! You can use the fronds as a herb or garnish, and the bulb works well either thinly sliced into salads or braised as an accompaniment to meats or fish! Try it out this week in our Citrus, Fennel & Avocado Salad

Other great veggies this week include Truss Tomatoes, Sweet Corn, Baby Broccoli, and Zucchini. If you’re feeling adventurous this week, we recommend trying out these Chocolate and Zucchini Donuts, because if Zucchini can go in muffins, it can go in anything!

Head to your local Fruit and Veg shop to see this week’s seasonal produce. The best way to shop and cook is to follow the seasons, and be sure to ask your greengrocer if you have any questions about what’s in season.
