A Better Choice For Freshness

We are living in a time where there are so many different substitutes on the market! Whether it be milk substitutes, dairy-free cheeses, or even gluten free options, there are plenty of alternatives on the market to make sure you don’t have to go without your favourite dishes!

We’re going to run through some of the easiest options you have so you can adapt all of your go-to recipes without having to miss out!

  1. Milk

Think soy milk, almond milk, and even oat milk! All of these will alter the taste of a dish a little bit, so pick your fave!

  1. Cheese

There are plenty of dairy free cheeses on the market, but if you’re looking for something more natural, check out nutritional yeast! Perfect for stirring through pasta!

  1. Butter

You can use certain oils in place of butter – coconut oil specifically. There are also easily accessible butter alternatives like Nuttelex that are readily available and easy to source.

  1. Egg

Egg can be a tricky one! Although egg replacements like flax egg or chia eggs work well, they will only work for recipes with less than 3 eggs. Other alternatives are mashed banana and puréed apple! They may change the taste a little bit, but we can promise you the taste will be good.

  1. Seeds or nuts

If you’re allergic to one or the other, either will work as a substitute for the other. For example, if you can’t eat nuts, use seeds! If you can’t eat seeds, use nuts. If you can’t eat either, try oats! They’ll give your recipe some texture and substance!

  1. Gluten

There is an abundance of gluten free food available these days. Bread, pasta, flour… the list goes on! Other alternatives include buckwheat flour, almond flour and oat flour. These won’t work for every recipe, but research each to find out which one will work best for what you’re cooking!

We hope this guide will be helpful for you on your upcoming cooking endeavours and that is has ensured you that no matter what your intolerances are, you do not need to miss out!
