With school holidays coming to an end, it’s time to strap in for the coming cooler weather! The change in season brings new seasonal produce to the shelves of your local Fruit and Veg shop, so be sure to stock up this weekend, as we start to switch from salads to roasts for some warmth this Autumn!
As we head into the cooler months, Sweet Potato is an excellent option to pick up in your weekly shop! There is nothing overrated about Sweet Potatoes — they can be used in so many different ways! They can be treated the same way as pumpkins or potatoes, but they can also make a great addition to sweets and baking, too! They’re also a nutritious option, counting towards your daily intake of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B-6, as well as iron and magnesium! So be sure to pick some up this week at your local Fruit and Veg Shop!
Autumn fruits are some of our favourites, and with so many delicious options available, we couldn’t be happier! Just coming in this week, you will see Kiwifruits available, an excellent option for the kids’ lunchbox, or a perfect topping for your morning cereal.

This week there are new-season navel Oranges available. Oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C to help fight off your change of season colds, so be sure to pick some up!
Other fruits that are available are Quince which is an excellent Autumn option for baking into pies or cooking into jam. You may also see some delicious Feijoas available at your local fruit and veg shop! These little green fruit can be eaten similarly to kiwifruit, simply cut in half and scoop out the flesh for a tasty tropical treat!
There is also an excellent variety of Grapes available at your local Fruit and Veg shop, with a variety for everyone! Pick some up this week for the perfect snack to keep you going throughout the day!
Some new season Brussels Sprouts are available this week. Cook up a tasty bake of Maple and Mustard Brussels Sprouts for a side dish that the whole family will love!
Eggplant is in abundance, and is perfect for any occasion. Eggplants have a delicious, nutty flavour that makes for the perfect comfort foods, like these Eggplant Croquettes! When selecting Eggplant, look for shiny skin. A good Eggplant will be heavy for its size.
You will find excellent quality Asian greens available at your Local Fruit and Veg shop such as Chinese Broccoli, Bok Choy and Water Spinach which are all excellent options for a nutritious boost of vitamins for your daily intake!
