A Better Choice For Freshness

It’s an exciting time at your local fruit and veg shop this week, with a variety of new-season produce lines available including some uncommon and elusive fruits, as well as some classic staples in great quality. 

Eating beautifully and in great supply this week are Zucchinis. Zucchinis are low in calories and high in fibre, making them a great addition to a healthy diet. Zucchinis are very versatile and can be used in a variety of dishes, such as soups, stews, salads, and even baked goods like Zucchini muffins. Pick up some Zucchini at your local fruit and veg shop this week and enjoy the benefits of this delicious squash. 

Have you ever tried Achacha? This tropical fruit is unique in flavour and might be harder to come by, but it is well worth asking for! This fruit has an orange-yellow outer skin, and once opened has a soft juicy texture with a seed in the middle. The flavour is a unique balance of sweet and acidic, and is a delicious treat well worth a try! The Achacha is closely related to Mangosteen, another highly sought-after tropical fruit. 

Grapes are in excellent supply with a wide variety of options available. Pick up a bunch of your favourite grapes this week at your local fruit and veg shop and treat the whole family to the perfect flavour and texture of fresh grapes!

Both similar in texture and flavour, Rambutan and Lychees are available at your local fruit and veg shop. The sweet flavours of these tropical fruits is delightful to enjoy on a warmer day. Top your morning muesli with either of these fruits and start your day off with a delicious hint of sweetness that is sure to boost your mood. 

Lemons are in great supply this week, so pick up a few of these staple citrus! Lemon helps to add a hint of acidic flavours to your favourite meals or a tart sour taste to sweets. We’re loving this Lemon Drizzle Cake and this you will too! 

New season Apples are now in-store for the perfect crunch and sweetness. Look for new season Gala Apples at your local fruit and veg shop. While there’s nothing better than crunching into a crisp apple, you could also use them up in a delicious Sweet Potato & Apples Salad.

Eggplant is excellent quality this week, perfect for a cool-weather meal. Eggplant can be cooked up into curries, dips or simply roasted to accompany meat or added to salads.
